What it means

A TikTok before-and-after skit: the creator starts out looking deliberately awkward or nerdy, pulls on a tight skull cap (usually black), and instantly switches to a confident, intense "glow-up" look on the beat drop. The joke is the exaggerated idea that one cheap hat transforms your whole persona.

The videos are usually set to Bryson Tiller's verse from DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts" featuring Rihanna.

Origin

Know Your Meme says the trend spread on TikTok around October 2026, with no single confirmed originator. An early example from October 16, 2026 by @big_bobby6929 passed 7.4 million views, and an October 18 version by @antoniopieterss passed 12.8 million, per Know Your Meme.
