Anakin Skywalker Gen Z Male Rage meme: what it means and where it came from
What it means
Star Wars prequel memes that cast Anakin Skywalker as a stand-in for frustrated young men. Scenes of Anakin clashing with the Jedi Council or Obi-Wan Kenobi (often captioned as older generations or institutions) are paired with captions about debt, dating, jobs, politics and AI, framing his turn to the Dark Side as generational disillusionment.
Some posts are earnest commentary and others are ironic; the format is used from many political angles.
Origin
Per Know Your Meme, the trend grew on X in early-to-mid October 2026. One of the earliest known examples, posted by @ArchitectOracle on October 11, 2026, used the scene of Anakin after his duel with Obi-Wan to list the struggles of Gen Z. Late in the month, discussion about the prequels' quality, including a viral post by commentator Matt Walsh calling them worse than the original trilogy, pushed the memes further, per Know Your Meme.
